Alfred Dunhill Fighter Provenance Fountain Pen
Honour, bravery and innovation take centre stage in the Fighter Provenance Fountain Pen, a masterpiece crafted from the original aluminium engine casing of the WW2 Spitfire fighter jet’s Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Here, old-world heroism gets a hint of modern luxury, with the pen’s 18-carat gold, rhodium coated fountain nib.
As this masterpiece is made from genuine providence material that is over 70 years old there will be visible markings from the recasting process.
Designed exclusively by Alfred Dunhill, the pen's details also reflect this iconic aircraft - the bolt and rivet effects in the original aluminium; the tapered edges echoing the aerodynamics; a window feature on the side of the barrel displaying level of ink and even the pen clip design directly references the shape of the spitfire propeller. In fact, the cap of the Fighter Provenance Fountain Pen is created using plexiglass which is exactly the same material used for the bubble canopy of the late 1930's and early 1940's fighter planes.
With only 150 pieces ever made, this unique opportunity is one which really won’t be around for long. The piece we have for sale is number 35 of 100 and comes with its edition number engraved into the section of the fountain pen.
Caran d’Ache Harmony Fountain Pen
Taking inspiration from China, Caran d’Ache combines traditional Chinese culture and techniques and advanced modern technology to bring you a premier writing instrument. Developed in accordance with the principles of Feng Shui, the Harmony helps it’s owner to make the very best of every day.
A total of 888 pieces were made as reference to a number which favours good luck and prosperity. The instrument we have available is numbered 14 of 888.
The pen is comprised of genuine red Chinese lacquer and is finished with gold detailing. Red represents the element of fire and invokes passion, enthusiasm and warmth. Gold is prized for exemplifying wealth and substance.
Caran d’Ache have carefully considered every element of design to ensure that this is a beautiful representation of Feng Shui and Chinese culture. The shape of the fountain pen and its clip represent bamboo, a symbol of longevity. This natural element demonstrates the force of nature, its strength and tenacity. The body and the cap are caressed by gentle sculptured leaves and plated in 18-carat gold. They reach upwards towards the top of the pen, searching to capture energy from the sky. The genuine red Chinese lacquer is applied between the leaves by a new process developed by Caran d’Ache, that combines traditional Chinese methods and advanced modern technology. The brilliant appearance of the pen is produced by expert hand polishing.
The push button and the medium nib both carry the Chinese character for Harmony. At the top of the body, the individual number of each pen and the Caran d’Ache monogram are engraved.
The polished wooden presentation box takes it’s inspiration from Chinese architecture and evokes feelings of a precious piece of antique furniture. Inside the box is also a beautiful compass which is central to the art of Feng Shui as it helps to find and identify energy flows. This compass will serve as a guide to those who seek a happy and contented future.
